 03 March 2012
Visit of the President and Vice President of Conference





The Sheffield District is pleased to welcome the President and Vice President of the Methodist Conference, the Rev'd Leo Osborn and Mrs Ruth Pickles from the 3rd to the 11th March 2012.



Saturday 3rd March – District Quiet Day.

Both the President and Vice President will lead a day on ‘Meeting God in the Everyday’ (Reflections on a Journey) at Apperknowle Methodist Church, High Street, Apperknowle S18 4BD, in the Sheffield Brunswick Circuit, from 10.00am – 4.00pm.
The day is open to everybody, but booking is essential via the District Office (please book by the 11th February).
Drinks will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.

Sunday 4th March – Preaching

The President will preach at Victoria Hall, Norfolk Street, Sheffield S1 2JB at 10.45 am and at Hathersage Methodist Church, Main Road, Hathersage, S32 1BB in the Peak Circuit at 6.00 pm.

The Vice President will preach at Handsworth Methodist Church,Handsworth Road, Sheffield S13 9BN in the Sheffield East Circuit, at 10.30 am and at Broomhill Methodist Church, Fulwood Road, Sheffield S10 3BD in the Sheffield West Circuit, at 6.30 pm

Monday 5th March - Training

The President will meet with Rev Ric Stott to see his work as a Pioneer Minister

The Vice President will visit the Urban Theology Unit in the morning and then meet with the Training Officer.

Both the President and Vice President will join the Ministers in the First Ten Years of Ministry at Whirlow Grange and lead their Retreat until Wednesday 7th March

Tuesday 6th March – Ministers in First Ten Years

The President and Vice-President stay at Whirlow Grange with Ministers in the First Ten Years of Ministry.

Wednesday 7th March – University Chaplaincy

The Vice President will visit the University of Sheffield Chaplaincy.

Thursday 9th March – Superintendents

Both the President and Vice President will lead the Superintendents Away-Day at Bawtry Hall from 09.30 – 16.00

In the evening the President will attend the 20th Anniversary celebration of Thorpe Hesley LEP, Sough Hall Road, Thorpe Hesley, S60 2QP in the Rotherham & Dearne Valley Circuit at 7.30 pm; and the Vice President will visit the Starter Packs initiative in the Barnsley Circuit.

Friday 9th September – Gathering for Fellowship & Food

Both the President and Vice President will join the Supernumerary Ministers and their spouses and Minsters widow(er)s for their time of lunch and chat at Bakewell Methodist Church in the Peak Circuit.

Saturday 10th March – Circuit Stewards

The President and Vice President will lead the Circuit Stewards in ‘Who Cares’, a day for Circuit Stewards to explore their role in caring for Ministers, churches and each other at Birdwell Methodist Church, Sheffield Road, Birdwell, Barnsley, S70 5XB in the Barnsley Circuit, from 10.00 am -4.00 pm.
Drinks will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.
Booking essential via the District Office by 25th February.

Sunday 11th March – Preaching

The President will preach at Central Methodist Church, Saltergate, Chesterfield S40 1UJ in the Chesterfield Circuit at 10.30 am and the Vice President at Cantley Methodist Church, Goodison Boulevard, Doncaster, DN4 6BT in the Doncaster Circuit at 10.30.

In the afternoon they will return home.
